What’s On

Touring Spring 2026

CYTC’s 2026 season features two classics: Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, a fast-paced comedy of double lives and social mishaps, and a striking new adaptation of Coleridge’s Rime of the Ancient Mariner, exploring guilt, fate, and redemption. Both productions will tour Cornwall in March and April 2026.

The Importance of Being Earnest

by Oscar Wilde

For the 2026 season, Cornwall Youth Theatre Company (CYTC) present The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde.

A farcical comedy depicting the tangled affairs of two young men about town who lead double lives.

Join Algernon and Jack, back peddling through the awkward situations they create for themselves, by evading their unwanted social obligations.

The Importance of Being Earnest is one of Oscar Wilde’s most famous plays and is the final play of his four drawing room productions, which premiered in 1895.

Enjoy CYTC perform Wilde’s wit and humour with strong characterisation and fast paced repartee.

The Importance of Being Earnest has one more show to perform this summer at Penlee Open Air Theatre. Just one more chance to see this hilarious show on 20th July 2026.
